Meet the team!

We are a local Fresno family who likes to save money. Meal planning, smart shopping, and coupon clipping help us to do just that. With three children ranging from 8 to 12 years, family time and fun take priority. Grocery shopping is a necessary part of mommy life, but if we have to do it, we might as well save some money. We are here to show you some money saving tips and help you learn to coupon and make saving money a part of your everyday way of life :-)

Meet Jen

Jen is a wife and mommy of three. During the week, Jen plays taxi driver for her kidlets shuttling them home from school or to classes and after school programs. For her, meal planning and utilizing crockpot meals are key to sanity during the school week. Knowing a meal is cooking helps her spend more time with her children doing homework, reading with them,  or playing a game. Life is expensive, but saving where you can definately helps.

Meet Darryl

Darryl is our webmaster and guru of all things computer related. On the site, he is your go-to man for Fresno Bee subscriptions, Sunday morning newspaper comparisons, and drug store match-ups. He DOES coupon, and understands rewards and coupon policies– a coupon girl’s dream! We are blessed to be able to update our page frequently due to his cool talents.

About Fresno Couponing and our History

This past February (2011) Rebekah Hescox, along with Darryl and Jen Dote, ignored the big game and decided we needed a local blog to follow instead of some national blog with regional deals that did not work in our region (or state, for that matter!). Before the day was out, Darryl had purchased the web domain fresnocouponing.com and we had created a Facebook page for local couponers. We started blogging our experiences in the stores and doing our own match-ups. Then our church participated in Serve Dei and challenged everyone to take $5 and impact our community. We took the seed money and watched in awe as it turned into over a thousand dollars worth of merchandise to donate to the Fresno Rescue Mission and Marjoree Mason Center. Read more about that here. In May, Jen was interviewed by Bethany Clough and the Fresno Bee. A story on couponing in the valley was written and Jen and Beka were featured as the extreme couponers in the Fresno area. A pretty cool photographer, Craig Kohlruss, came to Beka’s home to take pics of us clipping and sorting coupons one Monday night. Jen and Beka were featured in the Fresno Bee the first Wednesday in June– hitting the front page above (and below) the fold!! Together we have taught Fresno Couponing Classes- and have met up with members of the community at local meet and greets. We have also participated at the Uptown Kids Sale as a vendor and consignors.

In November (2011), Darryl and Jen took over Fresno Couponing as a family blog and have also established So Cal Couponers, a southern California area blog which features budget and savings-friendly events as well as Fresno Couponing deals that work throughout California. If you are a follower, but live or visit the Southern California region, please like our So Cal Couponers Facebook page, as well as bookmark our new So Cal site.

The Schedule

Sundays: Darryl purchases the LA Times and SF Chronicle and compares them with our delivered Fresno Bee coupon inserts. You can check out his comparisions each Sunday morning before 11am.

Mondays: Beka and Jen have established Monday nights as coupon sorting and clipping nights and, with the help of Beka’s hubby, clip and fill the coupon binders. It is a great idea to have a night set aside to organizing those coupons!

Tuesdays: Darryl is usually glued to his computer putting together next week’s matchup for the drug stores: Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Jen takes time on Tuesdays to preview the grocery store sales as they get uploaded.

Wednesdays: most Wednesdays we have store matchups uploaded for you, our readers. This way you can see what is coming the following week and plan your trips accordingly. This also allows you to search for those coupons and order clipped coupons if needed.

Thursdays/Fridays: We bring you online deals, printable coupons, and weekend activities that are free, low-cost, and/or family-friendly.

Saturdays: We try to schedule something to post, but you will most likely not catch us online updating as frequently.
